I’m not going to pretend that I’m good at making clever introductions, so let’s just get right to it. My name is Katie Carter and I’m a freelance writer and artist based in St. Louis, Missouri. And I love movies- like, a lot. I’ve been a huge fan of anything Disney and Star Wars for most of my life, but around the start of high school I became obsessed with classic film and never looked back. Any aspirations I had about writing fiction soon changed to writing film critiques, and I now have an AA degree in film and a BA in animation (with a concentration on 2D animation). I was a writer for Examiner.com from 2009 up until the site shut down in 2016, covering news and primarily reviews of current films for the St. Louis edition of the site. In the months since Examiner closed up shop I’ve searched in vain for a replacement outlet to write for. There was only one viable solution: to make my own site. And that brings us here.
Look for this blog to mainly feature reviews of both major and independent films currently in theaters. I don’t get around to everything, but I do usually go to the movies at least once a week and cover all the heavy hitters. I am an awards season junkie, so come Oscar time you can expect a borderline insane barrage of predictions. I am also a huge nerd- I’m still a huge Disney and Star Wars fan, in addition to loving comic books, fantasy stories, and the like. It’s one of the things that fuels my excitement for film.
If there’s a certain movie you think I should watch and review, let me know! And follow my social media links below to stay up to date on what’s happening.
